Continued: Stars Climb The Western Conference Ladder After Impressive Stretch
A Friday night meeting at the Honda Center was next for the Stars who faced-off against the Anaheim Ducks. Lubomir Visnovsky scored the opening goal in the first period as Dallas went into the first intermission trailing 1-0. The second period clearly belonged to the Stars who registered three goals. Benn evened the affair with his fifteenth goal of the season. Goligoski continued his role as the set-up man recording his twenty-fifth assist as Morrow added his nineteenth helper.

Burish was next to beat Ducks' net-minder Dan Ellis for his eighth goal of the campaign with Jason Williams and Trevor Daley picking up their third and eighteenth assists respectively. Eriksson added a power-play goal late in the period as Ribeiro took his assist total to forty-one while Stephane Robidas found his twenty-third assist.

Anaheim battled back in the third period as Visnovsky scored on the power-play and Teemu Selanne tied the game 3-3 with little more than a minute left in regulation. The game ventured into overtime and Ellis made a huge save to stop a Dallas two-on-one breakaway. A late face-off was won by the Ducks as Visnovsky blasted a shot past Lehtonen to complete his hat-trick and give Anaheim a 4-3 win. The shoe was on the other foot as this time the Stars' opponents came away with a remarkable, late victory.

In the second of back-to-back games, Dallas met the San Jose Sharks at the HP Pavilion but they were without Langenbrunner who sustained an upper body injury against the Ducks. The Stars found themselves on the penalty kill early but Benn hustled down ice to beat Sharks' goalie Antti Niemi with a back-hander. The short-handed goal was his sixteenth of the season as Robidas picked up the lone assist, his twenty-fourth. Kyle Welwood evened the game at the midway point of the first period and later Patrick Marleau claimed the only goal of the second period to give San Jose a 2-1 lead at the second intermission.

Eriksson tied the game with his twenty-third goal as Mark Fistric and Benn collected their third and twenty-second respective assists of the year. Williams secured the game-winner as the Stars marched on to a 3-2 win. It was his first goal since joining Dallas as Ott accumulated his fifteenth assist and Daley took his total to nineteen. Lehtonen had another strong performance in net, making 29 saves against the high-powered Sharks.

Dallas killed off a penalty late to keep hold of the victory as Ott shared his impressions. "It was great that we closed out this game," he said. "It's playoff hockey, and the standings are so ridiculously tight. It makes it extremely tough, and extremely competitive, but it's a lot of fun," Ott remarked.

Langenbrunner returned in time for Monday night's clash with the Los Angeles Kings at Staples Center. Willie Mitchell scored the lone goal of the first period as the Kings went into the first intermission up 1-0. The Stars evened the contest early in the second period as Burish crafted a nice setup that Ribeiro finished for his thirteenth goal of the year. It was Burish's sixth assist as Goligoski collected his twenty-sixth helper. Justin Williams took advantage of a Lehtonen rebound to regain the lead for the Kings less than a minute later.

Langenbrunner embraces Lehtonen after another win for the Stars.
A highly-entertaining third period began and soon after Daley put a wrist-shot past Los Angeles goalie Jonathan Bernier and gained his sixth goal of the season. Langenbrunner and Ribeiro combined to take their assist totals to seventeen and forty-two respectively. The Kings' Kyle Clifford evened the contest less than a minute later. Benn made it two short-handed goals in consecutive games and forced the meeting to overtime. He stole the puck and raced down ice, deking Bernier for his seventeenth goal of the year.

It was another night for Stars' fans to celebrate as their team won yet another game in stunning fashion. Captain Brenden Morrow scored just thirty-eight seconds into the overtime period and raised his goal tally to twenty-six. Ribeiro made it a three point night with his forty-third assist and Minnesota native Goligoski had a two-point evening as he reached twenty-seven assists on the year. Dallas' habit for come-from-behind wins leads all NHL teams with nine so far this season.

Morrow spoke about the significant victory. "The last game of the road trip you sometimes get excited about getting back home, so it was huge for us to get those two points. This group's been good about (coming back) all year," he said.

The Stars now stand 5th place in the Western Conference and carry an overall record of 36-23-7 through 66 games. Brad Richards holds the team points lead with 63 while Captain Brenden Morrow is atop the goal-scoring chart with 26. Mike Ribeiro leads Dallas with 43 assists and Alex Goligoski has a Stars' best plus/minus mark of +25 including his Penguins' statistics. Eriksson has collected both the most power-play goals at 10 and game-winning goals with 6. Kari Lehtonen has recorded 28 victories in net and maintains a goals against average of 2.62 as both lead Dallas goalie marks.

On the injury front, Crawford confirmed that Brad Richards will return against the Calgary Flames on Wednesday but Nicklas Grossman remains listed as day-to-day. Calgary is the first team who will face the Stars during their massive seven-game homestand which concludes on March 19th against the Philadelphia Flyers.
