Continued: Langenbrunner Enters Elite Circle of Greats as he Takes Part in 1000th Career Game
Muller shared his view on Jamie's move back to Dallas, "Back then it was Carboneau, Mike Keane and myself on the third line. We took pride in shutting down the top lines and getting opportunities to score. In those tight games lots of times it's the third line that can come up with the big goal. That's the sort of role you'll see Jamie playing again in Dallas. He symbolizes their hard-working, defensive style. I'm sure that Nieuwendyk was happy to get him back. It's probably a good time in Jamie's career to move and get a change. He'll be a great support guy and that's what Dallas was looking for. He's a perfect guy to fit in with their group."

Tom McFarlane, Langenbrunner's coach at Cloquet High School gave a similar take on Jamie's new role with the Stars, "The thing is, the Stars can put him on a checking line and he'll be fine there but will also make the line offensive. Jamie can create chances with how smart he is in the transition game when he gets on the puck. He's versatile and can play almost any role. Not only will he help Dallas on the ice but he'll help them in their locker room."

McFarlane who now works for NHL Central Scouting was one of Jamie's most important mentors on his path to NHL stardom was proud to see one of his top former pupils go on to achieve this outstanding accomplishment. "The fact that he's playing in his 1000th game is obviously a tribute to his longevity but to me, it's almost more about his versatility. The fact is the game has changed drastically since he first came into the league and there is a lot more emphasis on skill. It's shown how versatile he is by playing often in different eras," he told.

Langenbrunner is set to close in on two more milestones in the near future as he will likely surpass the 250 goal-mark and eclipse 400 career assists next season. Though each are difficult benchmarks for most NHLers to reach, he's never been the type of player who obsesses about such numbers. What drives Jamie is the opportunity to compete with his teammates for the ultimate prize in the Stanley Cup.

Since his first full season in the league, Langenbrunner is yet to miss out on participating in the Stanley Cup playoffs and has taken part in 3 finals during his career. As mentioned earlier, he twice lifted the Cup in his career in 1999 and 2003. Now presented his new mission in Dallas, Jamie is once again ready to put his heart and soul into helping the Stars embark on a deep playoff run in 2011.
